A queue can be defined as a Mapping object which receives the list of files to process and organises processings according to priorities. The queue does not establish any other connection with a physical printer. It is an object which only manages a list of files. It is at least linked to a device which does establish connections with physical hardware.

Une file d’attente (ou queue) peut, quant à elle, se définir comme étant un objet Mapping qui reçoit la liste des fichiers à traiter et qui organise les traitements en fonction des priorités. La file d’attente ne réalise aucune connexion avec une imprimante physique. C’est un objet qui gère uniquement une liste de fichiers. Elle est liée au minimum à une device qui, elle, se connectera au matériel physique.
Si elle est à l’état Prêt ou Suspendu alors les fichiers ne seront pas traités par la device.
