The default mode is the automatic mode which can be used to optimise the encoding by switching from one mode to the other depending on the data. It also has an error detection/correction system to repair any damage.
- Postnet The Postnet barcode is used by the United States postal service. It has been replaced by the USPS or Intelligent Mail barcode.
- Planet The Planet barcode is used by the United States postal service. It has been replaced by the USPS or Intelligent Mail barcode.
- QR Code It has the particular feature of being able to encode a very large number of characters (7336 in numeric mode). This type of barcode is very widespread in Japan.
