Sous Windows, le Spooler s’installe en tant que Service dans le Gestionnaire de Services Windows. Cet enregistrement se fait au premier démarrage du Spooler. Le Service correspondant est nommé Mapping_Spooler. Il est configuré en démarrage manuel par défaut, cela peut être modifié par la suite pour un démarrage automatique avec le système.
