Caution: if the printer is connected to the network with an additional appliance (such as AXIS or HP JetDirect), the information is retrieved via the appliance, not the printer. The status retrieve is then that of the appliance, not that of the printer. With status control activated, the web interface of the Spooler can display the status of the printer (ready, off-line, paper jam…).
