The File menu gives access to the general options of the application:

FichierM.PNG

New:

  • Project: creates a new project with default properties (DEFAUT format, sequence 00010, in A4 simplex).
  • Component: creates a new component with default properties (A4 simplex).
  • Variable element: creates a new variable element with default properties (A4 simplex).
  • Document: creates a new document, Overlay (.mpw) or Dynamic (.mpi) depending on the selected view (Draw F or Map F). This overwrites the current document.

Open:

  • Project: opens an existing project by navigating the files tree. The default folder depends on "Server" preferences of the application.
  • Component: opens an existing component.
  • Variable element: opens an existing variable element.
  • Document: opens a existing document, Overlay (.mpw) or Dynamic (.mpi), depending on the selected view (Draw F or Map F). This overwrites the current document.
  • Spool: selects a spooled file to load it in the application as a data template to design from

Save:

  • Project: saves the current project. Source files of the project will be saved, N-1 versions may also be saved according to user preferences.
  • Document: saves the current document, the Overlay part (.mpw) or the Dynamic part (.mpi) depending on the project view displayed (DRAW or MAP).

Save as:

  • Project: saves the current project under a different name. Source files of the project are saved under the new name(s) given by the user.
  • Document: saves the current document (.mpw or .mpi) under a different name.

Project association:

  • Associates several projects together, including multi-sequence projects, to make their generation easier. An association of project creates a parameter file on the disk, with an *.mpa extension, in which the list of concerned projects and generation options is specified.

Multiple generation:

  • Selects several Designer projects to generate them all at once.

Import:

  • M-Designer File: imports another existing Designer overlay to the static part of the current project: component or static part of another project.
  • M-Designer XML: imports the entirety of a Designer project which was previously exported to the XML format, to the application. This process imports the XML file as a new project, retrieves all its properties and designs.
  • Resources: imports an external resource as an overlay of a new project, in the application. Resources can either be XPS documents or AFPDS overlays.

Export:

  • Printer (PCL5): prints out the overlay of the current project via a printer which is specified on the workstation.
  • Watermark (M-Storage): exports the overlay of the current project as a watermark that can be used in M-Storage.
  • Overlay (PCL5): selects an M-Designer (.mpw) overlay to export in PCL5 on the disk.
  • Projects: selects one or several projects to export in a compressed folder (.zip) with the associated spooled file if accessible.
  • M-Designer XML: exports the entirety of the current project in an XML description file. All properties and designs of the project are specified in the file which can then be imported the next time the application is opened on another workstation for instance.

Close:

  • Closes the current project or document and detects unsaved edits.
