Installing M-PS 8.0 Patches, Updates and New Releases
Installing Software Patches, Updates and New Releases
This section explains how to apply M-PS software patches, updates and new releases to a UNIX or Linux system with minimum service downtime.
Full Setup
To update M-PS using a full setup package, you will need to plan a service interruption of 5 minutes.
Follow the steps below:
- Copy the installation package onto the system
- Back up the 'bin' folder which contains all the application binaries that will be replaced
- Stop the spooler (map_daemon) and hot folder (map_scanfolder) processes
- Run the installation script choosing option 2: Update when prompted as explained above at Updating M-Processing Server
- Restart the spooler (map_daemon) and hot folder (map_scanfolder) processes
In case there is any problem after the update, you can simply restore the bin folder you have backed up to rollback to the previous version.
Individual Binaries
To replace one or more M-PS application binaries individually, you will need to plan a service interruption of 2 minutes.
Follow the steps below:
- Copy the new binaries you have received onto the system
- Apply the same access rights applied to the binaries you are going to replace
- Back up the binaries found in the 'bin' folder that you are about to replace
- Stop the spooler (map_daemon) and hot folder (map_scanfolder) processes
- Copy the new binaries to the 'bin' folder
- Restart the spooler (map_daemon) and hot folder (map_scanfolder) processes
In case there is any problem after the update, you can simply restore the binaries you have backed up to rollback to the previous version.
Note: If the binaries replaced are mapweb_secure or map_soapserver, the users logged in to the M-PS Web-based UI will need to log off and log back on after the update. Else, the update is completely transparent for the user.
