How can I create emergency keys?

You can generate 7-day emergency keys by yourself in the following events:

What are the PDF formats supported by Mapping?

  • 1.6
  • PDF/A-1b
  • PDF/A-2b
  • PDF/A-2u
  • PDF/A-3b

Configuration in XPSConfig.conf:

<pdfa>ON</pdfa>
<pdfaversion>1b</pdfaversion>

Supported options include:

  • 1b (default)
  • 2b
  • 2u
  • 3b

For information:

  • PDF/A-1a: This level complies with ISO 19005-1 Standard. The text can be extracted and viewed by several devices, including handheld devices.
  • PDF/A-1b: Compliance level B – This category is considered the minimum compliance level. This level ensures the document can be displayed and read on a computer monitor but does not guarantee its readability.
  • PDF/A-2: PDF/A-2 is based on ISO 32000-1 and offers improved characteristics over specification 1.4 Adobe PDF. Here's a little overview:
    • Support for JPEG2000 compression (colour documents)
    • PDF/A files integrated through collections/portfolios
    • Transparency, optional content (layers): useful for mapping or drawing or document design in several languages (various content on different layers)
    • Acceptation unicode (PDF/A-2U)
    • XMP metadata at object level (new requirements for customized metadata)
    • Comments and notes (list of accepted comment and note types for PDF/A-2)
    • Rules for electronic signature
  • PDF/A-3: PDF/A-3 is based on ISO 32000-1 and offers support for integrated files.

Important:

PDF/A-1a, PDF/A-2a and PDF/A-3a are not supported in Mapping as the norms are stricter and require that the document structure be kept in the PDF. You can still choose them in the XpsConfig file, but they will be replaced with their "b" version.

If the XPS file you want to convert includes images with transparency and you choose PDF/A-1b (default), the transparency will disappear, which can make the PDF very different from the XPS. Recently added JPEG2000 compression which applies to large size images is also disabled in PDF/A-1b, which can increase the size of the PDF file created.

Alphanumerical characters do not show on the labels printed by the thermal printer

Check that the font is loaded in to the printer. The printer is looking for an external font and cannot find it. It looks in its memory. You will need to pre-load the fonts in to the printer memory using an SD card or USB link, etc.

My PDF file doesn't look right after generating through Mapping

The way PDF files are displayed can differ greatly depending on which PDF viewer is used. We recommend that you check the printed document. You can test rendering using various applications such as MapWeb, Acrobat Reader, Foxit, MS Edge, etc.
